Driveway & retaining wall replacement

Replacing aging driveways and walls in North Haledon

North Haledon is a long-established community, and in older neighborhoods the driveways, retaining walls, and drainage that went in decades ago are wearing out. A big part of what we do here is tearing out cracked, failing work and rebuilding it to last, often on tight lots where access takes real care.

We also do a fair amount of site work where older properties are being rebuilt or expanded. That is a big part of what we do here, but it is far from the only thing. We still handle sewer and water lines, septic, grading, driveways, and emergency digs across town.

The Passaic County highlands are rocky and wooded, with lake communities and plenty of septic and drainage work. Steep, tricky ground is where an experienced operator earns their keep.

In a built-up borough like North Haledon, the common jobs are sewer and water lines, underground utilities, and excavation in tighter spots. Whether it is an emergency sewer or water line dig-out, a septic system, a lot that will not drain, or a new driveway, we bring our own equipment and an operator who knows the ground in this part of Passaic County. We show up when we say we will, and we leave your property graded and clean.

North Haledon housing stock

What tends to be in the ground in North Haledon

The biggest single stretch of building in North Haledon came in the 1950s, though the borough's 3,080 housing units are spread fairly wide across the decades.

About 20% predates 1940, so there is a real pocket of clay and galvanized service in North Haledon sitting alongside much newer stock.

The bigger issue here is the 46% built between 1940 and the early 1970s. Orangeburg pipe was rated fifty years and routinely goes oval and collapses closer to thirty, so in a borough weighted this heavily toward that window it is less a question of if than which street.

With 21% built since 2000, a good part of North Haledon is newer, and there the work is usually drainage and grading rather than pipe.

Housing-age figures: US Census American Community Survey 2019–2023 5-year estimates, table B25034. Pipe service lives are documented industry figures. What is actually under any one property varies, so we confirm it on site before we quote a replacement.

North Haledon water supply

North Haledon is split between public water and private wells

About 35.9% of North Haledon’s land area sits inside a public water purveyor’s delivery area, shared between 2 different systems. The largest is Manchester Utilities Authority, then Holland Christian Home. Outside those pockets most properties are on a well, sometimes their own and sometimes one shared with neighbors, and the three situations are different jobs with different rules. Which one you are in is the first thing to settle, and your bill settles it faster than any map.

NJDEP maps actual delivery areas for public community systems, meaning fifteen or more year-round connections; smaller shared and association systems are real but do not appear. Percentages are share of land area, not share of homes, and a state file can lag a change of ownership. The name on your bill beats any map, including this one.

What is underground in North Haledon

The part that changes the job here

North Haledon is split: only portions of the borough are on the Manchester Utilities Authority, the Haledon-based utility that buys its water from the Passaic Valley Water Commission, and NJDEP maps only about 36% of the borough's land inside a water delivery area. Sewer is far more complete, about 83% mapped, draining to PVSC.

The Manchester Utilities Authority says it is working to identify and replace lead and galvanized service lines by 2031, and asks customers for help doing it. If an MUA letter asks what your service line is made of, answering it is how a line gets onto that list.

North Haledon sewer

Most of North Haledon is inside a sewer service area

About 83.2% of North Haledon’s land area falls inside a mapped sewer service area. The largest share goes to PVSC, with 1 smaller works alongside it. A service area is where sewer is planned and permitted, not a promise that a main runs past your house, so the only way to settle it for one address is to look. Outside it, septic.

Sewer connections, laterals and septic work are all things we do, and which one you need is usually settled in one phone call. Sewer and water line work.
