It is one system: on September 16, 2025, a single main break at Prospect and Church Streets in Washington Borough put NJAW customers in all four towns, Franklin included, under a mandatory boil water advisory.
There is no sewer main to tap into here, even for large commercial projects. When the Lincoln Logistics warehouse development came to Franklin Township, NJDEP had to amend the Upper Delaware water quality plan in 2023 to create a 91.03-acre discharge-to-groundwater area so the three warehouses could run their own onsite subsurface sewage disposal system, sized for 16,496 gallons per day.
The tap water NJAW delivers into Franklin Township is all groundwater: seven wells located in Washington, Oxford and Mansfield, drawing from the Jacksonburg Limestone, Kittatinny Supergroup and Hardyston Quartzite aquifers, disinfected with chlorine only.
