We recently completed a cable installation at a water and wastewater treatment center for the SCMUA. The line was high priority, it carries the signals that control the safety alarms on the plant's pumps, so it had to go in clean and right.
The right tool for the job
For this we used a specialized vibratory plow, the Vermeer SPX25. Instead of digging an open trench, the plow vibrates a narrow cut through the ground and places the cable at a set depth, anywhere from 12 to 48 inches depending on the blade and setup.
Less disturbance, cleaner result
What we like about this machine is how nimble it is, and how its track system keeps ground disturbance to a minimum. It can place conduit, direct-bury cable, copper, fiber, gas lines, and in some cases water. Less digging means less restoration and a faster, cleaner job for the customer.
