Getting an estimate should not feel like a sales ambush. Here is exactly how it works with us, so you know what is coming before you call.
First, the call
You tell us what is going on: the drain that backs up, the yard that floods, the driveway that is done. We ask a few questions and give you an honest read on whether it is our kind of work. If it is not, we say so and point you to someone who does it.
Then we come look
Dirt work cannot be priced honestly from a phone photo. Depth, access, soil, slope, what is buried nearby: it all changes the number. So we come walk the job with you, usually within a few days, and often the same day for emergencies. The visit is free and there is no obligation.
You get a real number
Our estimate covers the work we discussed, in plain language, with a price we intend to honor. If we open the ground and find something nobody could have known about, we stop, show you, and price the change before we keep going. No mystery invoices at the end.
What we will never do
We will not lowball to win the job and make it up in extras. We will not pressure you to sign on the spot. And if a quote you already have looks off to us, we will tell you why, even when the honest answer is that the other guy's price is fair.
Common questions
Do you charge for an estimate? No. We come and walk the job with you, usually within a few days and often the same day for an emergency. The visit is free and there is no obligation.
Why can't you price my job over the phone? Because dirt work cannot be priced honestly from a photo. Depth, access, soil, slope and what is buried nearby all change the number, and any of them can change it a lot. A phone number is a guess dressed up as a quote.
What happens if you find something unexpected once you start? We stop, show you what we found, and price the change before continuing. What we will not do is keep working and put it on the invoice at the end.
Will you tell me if another contractor's quote is fair? Yes, including when the honest answer is that their price is fair. If a quote you are holding looks off to us we will tell you why, and if it looks right we will tell you that too.
What if my job is not the kind of work you do? We say so and point you to somebody who does it. That happens regularly and it costs us nothing worth keeping.
